Pueblo South is a perfect 6-0 against Widefield since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Pueblo South will head out to square off against Widefield at 3:30 p.m. Pueblo South is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
While Pueblo South didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 8-3 win over Liberty on Wednesday.

Pueblo South got a big performance out of Kade Ortiz, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave Ortiz a new career-high. Josiah Guerra was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Widefield hadn't done well against Coronado recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Widefield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-12 victory over Coronado. The Gladiators' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Nick Prantl and Braeden Mitton did most of the damage at the plate: Prantl went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Mitton scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Widefield is 3-1 when Prantl posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Jayden Warren also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Widefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Pueblo South's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Widefield, their record is now 5-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pueblo South hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Widefield struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Pueblo South's way against Widefield in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Pueblo South made off with a 15-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pueblo South since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
