After three games on the road, Damascus is heading back home. They will take on the Wootton Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Damascus will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Wootton is ranked 70th).
Damascus suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 62-41 loss at the hands of Northwest.
Wootton posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 65-25 win over Watkins Mill. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wootton.
Wootton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taj Smith, who scored 11 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Yassine Idrissa, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Damascus' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Wootton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Damascus took their victory against Wootton when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 73-53. Will Damascus repeat their success, or does Wootton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
