Hanover has gone a perfect 10-0 against Varina recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Hawks will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hanover has three straight victories, Varina has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Hanover barely beat Mechanicsville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks blew past the Mustangs 10-2 on Friday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Lily Hockensmith looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Willow Dickenson and Kylie Towner did most of the damage at the plate: Dickenson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Towner went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Dickenson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Destiny Bryant, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Hanover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Varina and Highland Springs, and Highland Springs kept the tradition alive. The Blue Devils came up short against the Springers on Thursday, falling 18-3.
Varina now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Hanover, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Everything went Hanover's way against Varina when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Hanover made off with a 14-0 victory. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
