The Rocky Ford Meloneers will take on the Mitchell Marauders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Rocky Ford's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Center with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Meloneers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2025 (when they won 12-0).
The team relied heavily on Adam Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Omar Parra, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mitchell). They blew past Denver Academy 10-4 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Marauders needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Mason Cherrie and Noah Ogilvie made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Cherrie struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Ogilvie struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. At bat, Cherrie went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Ogilvie went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Diejavu McNeil was a standout: he earned two runs and five stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Rocky Ford's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Mitchell, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
Everything went Rocky Ford's way against Mitchell when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Rocky Ford made off with a 23-3 win. Will the Meloneers repeat their success, or do the Marauders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
