The IMG Academy Gray Ascenders are taking a road trip to take on the Northside Christian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games IMG Academy Gray has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Thursday, it was close, but IMG Academy Gray sidestepped The First Academy for a 10-9 victory. That's two games straight that the Ascenders have won by just one run.
Petyon Miller was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Miller was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JD Westveld, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He also put up a stolen base, which washis first of the season. Another player making a difference was Troy Carpenter, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northside Christian). They walked away with an 8-4 win over Hilton Head Christian Academy on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Ronald Causby looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Danilo Soto was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah De La Concha, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Northside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
IMG Academy Gray's record is now 3-1. As for Northside Christian, their record now sits at 2-3.
IMG Academy Gray suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Northside Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can IMG Academy Gray avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
