The Immanuel Christian Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Irvin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Immanuel Christian came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 780th, while Irvin is ranked 1563rd).
Immanuel Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Noah Ayala, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Story, who scored 19 points.
Immanuel Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Irvin, their win bumped their record up to 3-13.
Immanuel Christian will be playing at home against Fort Hancock at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Hopefully Fort Hancock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday. Irvin's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mountain View at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
