Football Recap: St. Martin Skates Past Hancock with Ease

While St. Martin put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Hancock. The Yellow Jackets blew past the Hawks 35-0. While the Yellow Jackets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Seth Crockett produced another solid effort rushing for 81 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 176 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 88% of his passes. Kevin Marshall made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

St. Martin didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Hancock to a completion percentage of just 39%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Jeremiah Matthews, Exavier Wiggins, and Yusef Colding, who each logged one passes deflected. St. Martin hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.46 or higher in three consecutive games.

St. Martin's defense also made the game a nightmare for Kaison Koenenn., racking up eight sacks. Matthews led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. Jayden Curtis also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Marshall got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

St. Martin's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Hancock, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, St. Martin will host West Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will need to watch out since the Hurricanes have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Hancock, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bay at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
