Softball Recap: Cascade Has No Trouble Against Shorecrest

Cascade lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Shorecrest, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. Cascade was the clear victor by a 17-6 margin over Shorecrest on Tuesday. Considering the Bruins have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mia Walker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Kodie Rasmussen was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cienna Cannon, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5.

Cascade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shorecrest struck out eight times.

Cascade has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 8.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only 2.33 in the others. This is the second loss in a row for Shorecrest and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Cascade is taking a road trip to take on Mariner at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shorecrest, they will be playing at home against Marysville Getchell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
