 Meanwhile, Gaston Christian has not done well against Metrolina Christian Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Monday. Gaston Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Metrolina Christian Academy  and snuck past  5-4.
 Like Concord Academy, Gaston Christian also got a great game from a two-way player:  David Nicks. He  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. Nicks was even better at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with a  home run and two  runs.
 Nicks wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Aaron Main, who  went 1-for-3 with a  stolen base.
 Concord Academy's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Gaston Christian, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won nine of their last ten matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record  this season.
 Concord Academy might still be hurting after the  13-0 loss they got from Gaston Christian  when the teams last played  back in March. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of   Main, who   kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched.
