The Pulaski County Maroons will take on the Assumption Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pulaski County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Pulaski County needed a bit of extra time to put away East Jessamine. They skirted past the Jaguars 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Maroons.
Brooklyn Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 19 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Davis, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ryann Sowder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Assumption earned a 9-4 win over Denmark on Thursday.
Maddie Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Sofia Young was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Maleya Giddens was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Assumption's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Pulaski County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Pulaski County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Assumption struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits.
