Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Sulligent

Sulligent entered their tilt with Pickens County on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Tornadoes. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Levi Jordan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Jordan was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ethan Stiles was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. JohnWil Spruiel was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Sulligent always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sulligent's victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Coming up, Sulligent will challenge Berry at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.6 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pickens County, they will welcome Holy Spirit Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
