Baseball Recap: Winfield Has No Trouble Against Riverside

Winfield got themselves on the board against Riverside on Friday, but Riverside never followed suit. They blew past the Warriors 8-0. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Brayson Downey was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Winfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverside only posted an OBP of .000.

Winfield pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Riverside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winfield will venture away from home to face off against Chapmanville Regional at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Riverside, they will head out to challenge Shady Spring at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
