Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Greenwood Eagles proved on Wednesday. They came out on top against Laurens by a score of 52-40. Given Greenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Laurens is ranked 157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremiah Brooks, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Cj Terrell, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyj Jones, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Tylan Fowler was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Greenwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Laurens, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Greenwood will head out on the road to challenge Pickens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Pickens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday. As for Laurens, they will face off against Greenville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Greenville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 721 points over their last 11 games.
