The Delmar Wildcats will challenge the Indian River Indians at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Indian River took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Delmar, who comes in off a win.
On Thursday, Delmar beat Smyrna 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Aiden McCauley and Ryder Keidel were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, McCauley didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Keidel struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Delmar is 2-1 when McCauley allows one or fewer hits, but 4-5 otherwise. At bat, McCauley got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Keidel went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Nichols, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another was Mathais Ford, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Indian River faced Sussex Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Indians came up short against the Golden Knights, falling 10-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Indians, who until this game were averaging 2.64 runs allowed.
The victory got Delmar back to even at 6-6. As for Indian River, they dropped their record down to 9-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Delmar has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Indian River struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Delmar was able to grind out a solid win over Indian River in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-2. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
