It was a good run, but the Pomeroy Pirates unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Oakesdale 49-43. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pomeroy has scored all season.
Pomeroy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jett Slusser, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Oliver Severs who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Slusser has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trace Roberts, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Pomeroy's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Oakesdale, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pomeroy will take on Tekoa-Rosalia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tekoa-Rosalia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Pomeroy is ranked 153rd). As for Oakesdale, they will be playing at home against Yakama Nation Tribal at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
