Basketball Recap: Zionsville Finds Home Court Redemption Against Lawrence Central

There's no place like home for Zionsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 77-60 victory over the Lawrence Central Bears on Friday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 53 points per game.

Zionsville had a senior duo take command as Maguire Mitchell went 8 for 13 on his way to 28 points and eight rebounds and Drew Snively went 7 of 10 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Allen, who posted seven points and six assists.

Zionsville was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lawrence Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Doron Harris, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight assists and four steals, and Albert Gooden Iii, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Dooley, who had ten points.

Zionsville's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lawrence Central, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Zionsville and New Palestine will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Zionsville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. Lawrence Central will take on Indianapolis Crispus Attucks in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
