The Paoli Rams are taking a road trip to square off against the Mitchell Bluejackets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Paoli has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Mitchell will arrive with four straight victories.
Things were looking good for Paoli after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Christian Academy. Rams fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Warriors since Thursday.
Kirkland Hughes and Justin Thornton did some serious damage despite the final result: Hughes went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Thornton earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. That double was Hughes' first of the season.
Meanwhile, Mitchell got themselves on the board against Corydon Central on Tuesday, but Corydon Central never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-0 win. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bluejackets yet this season.
Boston True and Dasen Kerr did most of the damage at the plate: True went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Kerr went 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two RBI gave True a new career-high. Cooper McFadden was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Mitchell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corydon Central struck out nine times.
Paoli's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Paoli has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mitchell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Paoli skirted past Mitchell 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
