After flying high against the LaCrosse Leopards last Tuesday, the Ellsworth Bearcats came back down to earth. Ellsworth fell just short of Hoisington by a score of 37-34. While losing is never fun, Ellsworth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Hoisington is ranked 43rd).
It was another big night for Ellie Crawford, who scored 15 points for Hoisington. Mallory Mooney was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals and two blocks.
Ellsworth now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hoisington, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Ellsworth will head out on the road to take on Pratt on Saturday. Pratt will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Hoisington will take on Minneapolis at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Minneapolis' defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Hoisington's offense will have their work cut out for them.
