Calvary Christian Academy won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 50-28 loss at the hands of Greenwood Mennonite. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Calvary Christian Academy has suffered against Greenwood Mennonite since January 13, 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Calvary Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Diaya Armantrading. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. Armantrading also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Brooke Watson (HS) was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two blocks.
It was another big night for Laci Mast, who scored 29 points along with nine steals for Greenwood Mennonite. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Mast has scored at least a third of Greenwood Mennonite's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Troyer, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Calvary Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Greenwood Mennonite, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Christian Academy will square off against Chestertown Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they will head out on the road to face off against Holly Grove Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Holly Grove Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
