Bedford and Greater Johnstown are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bisons will welcome the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bedford has six straight victories, Greater Johnstown has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bedford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Richland by a score of 4-0.

Emma Byers made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bailey Mickle, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Greater Johnstown fell victim to Central and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Dragons, falling 16-0. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly 16 runs.
Bedford's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greater Johnstown, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Greater Johnstown's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Bedford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Greater Johnstown, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 strikeouts. Will Bedford keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Bedford took their win against Greater Johnstown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-4 score. Will the Bisons repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
