Basketball Recap: Kingsland Falls Despite Big Games from Parker Johnson and Max Erdman

Kingsland was the 74-63 winner over Southland when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Kingsland Knights fell 65-58 to the Southland Rebels on Thursday.

Kingsland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Max Erdman, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards, and Parker Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. The matchup was Johnson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zach Reiland, who posted six points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Kingsland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Kingsland's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Southland, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kingsland will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on LeRoy-Ostrander at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Southland and Baldwin-Woodville will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on December 27th.
