Basketball Recap: Wayne Comes Up Short

Wayne lost against Guardian Angels Central Catholic back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wayne Blue Devils received a blow as they fell 56-38 to the Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Bluejays are ranked seventh).

When it comes to explaining why Wayne lost, don't look at Elle Powicki. Despite the final result, she posted four points and four steals. Powicki is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Addison Frank was another key player, putting up nine points.

Wayne dropped their record down to 10-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will take on Wahoo at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, they will challenge Pender at 5:30 p.m. on February 11th.
