Okeechobee is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing at home against the Jensen Beach Falcons at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Okeechobee barely beat Lake Placid the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Brahmans put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 16-2 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Brahmans.
Okeechobee let Kirra Snell and Janessa Arana run wild. Snell went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Arana went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Haylee Pendrey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Okeechobee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Placid only posted an OBP of .316.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Jensen Beach made sure to put some runs up on the board against Vero Beach on Tuesday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Indians. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Riley Boop made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Izzy Ouellette and Cali Mendenhall did most of the damage at the plate: Ouellette went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Mendenhall went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lyndin Eastman, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Okeechobee's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Jensen Beach, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Okeechobee has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Jensen Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Okeechobee's way against Jensen Beach in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Okeechobee made off with a 9-1 victory. Do the Brahmans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
