Meanwhile, American came into Thursday's matchup having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Deer Valley with a sharp 13-5 victory on Thursday. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Amber Hillman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hillman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mya Anderson, who scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Ruiz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
San Leandro's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for American, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
American's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: San Leandro has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .550. It's a different story for American, though, as they've only averaged .331. Will they be able to contain San Leandro's hitters?
