The First Academy has gone a perfect 9-0 against Lake Highland Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The First Academy Royals will take on the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. The First Academy will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
The First Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Trinity Prep with a sharp 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Thomas Achey looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Kinon Bastian was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Blake Fields, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
The First Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lake Highland Prep came up short against Master's Academy on Friday and fell 6-2.
Lake Highland Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Dugan, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
The First Academy pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.3 runs. As for Lake Highland Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. The First Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Highland Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
The First Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Highland Prep when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for The First Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
