Basketball Recap: Huntington North Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Dalton Husband and Titus Schultz

Huntington North was the 48-41 winner over Fort Wayne South Side when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Huntington North Vikings fell just short of the Fort Wayne South Side Archers by a score of 64-62 on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Huntington North's loss came despite strong showings from Titus Schultz and Dalton Husband. Schultz went 9-for-18 to rack up 28 points and five boards, while Husband dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. Schultz has become a key player for Huntington North: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 7-9 otherwise. Blaine Freiburger was another key player, putting up six points and five steals.

Fort Wayne South Side was led to victory by Zacariah Belcher and Demarcus Barr. Belcher went 11-for-14 en route to 27 points along with eight boards and six blocks, while Barr went 7-for-10 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Barr is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zicarien Belcher, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 10 points and six rebounds.

Huntington North now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Fort Wayne South Side, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huntington North will host Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
