The Pace Vikings will square off against the Lopez Lobos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pace has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Lopez will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Friday, Pace didn't have quite enough to beat Edcouch-Elsa and fell 2-1.
Luna Juarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.
On the hitting side, Pace saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Victoria Vasquez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.
Meanwhile, Lopez never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Donna North. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lobos considering their two-run performance the game before.
Chalene Granado made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Jenny Shank was a standout: she scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Ferni Pulido was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Lopez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Donna North only posted an OBP of .154.
Lopez's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Pace, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Everything went Pace's way against Lopez in their previous meeting back in February, as Pace made off with a 12-5 win. Will Pace repeat their success, or does Lopez has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
