Northridge hasn't had much luck against Bountiful recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Northridge Knights will welcome the Bountiful RedHawks at 3:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Northridge came up short against Clearfield and fell 15-10.
Makaybree Nay and Madisyn Lecour stepped up to the plate in a big way. Nay scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Lecour scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Bountiful had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 9-0 shutout. Nine seems to be a good number for the RedHawks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Ella Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Bountiful let Isabeau Hoff and Claire Yates run wild. Hoff went 1-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Yates scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Hoff a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Aspyn Danner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Bountiful kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Bountiful's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Northridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Northridge suffered a grim 21-6 defeat to Bountiful in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Northridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
