Basketball Game Preview: Willow Spring Storm vs. Corinth Holders Pirates

Willow Spring has gone 7-2 against Corinth Holders recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Willow Spring Storm will venture away from home to face off against the Corinth Holders Pirates at 6:15 p.m. Willow Spring is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.

Willow Spring took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Cleveland out 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Storm have posted since December 27, 2024.

Willow Spring can attribute much of their success to Amanda Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Taylor Gray, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Mitchell a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Mitchell, who posted six points and six boards.

Willow Spring smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland only pulled down two offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Corinth Holders was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 64-49 to South Garner. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Titans are ranked 43rd).

Corinth Holders now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Willow Spring, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Willow Spring couldn't quite finish off Corinth Holders in their previous matchup last Monday and fell 59-57. Can Willow Spring avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
