Softball Recap: Oakton Beats Fairfax for Their Third Straight Win

Oakton extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 8-2 in the process. They put the hurt on the Fairfax Lions with a sharp 14-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

As for Fairfax, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9. On the bright side, the eight- run performance marked their highest-scoring contest to date.

For Fairfax's part, Amy Hartle was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Huang, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakton will take on James Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fairfax, they will head out to face off against South County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stallions have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
