The Central Valley Hawks will challenge the Riverbank Bruins at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Central Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last Tuesday. They blew past Pitman 26-2.
Brooklynn Steeley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

In other batting news, Reylena Herrera was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, she also posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abigail Krauss, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Central Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pitman only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, Riverbank was able to grind out a solid victory over Grace Davis on Monday, taking the game 6-3.
Like Central Valley, Riverbank also got a great game from a two-way player: Maya Guzman. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Guzman was also big at the plate, going a perfect3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Guzman wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Shrader, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Central Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverbank in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Does Central Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Riverbank turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
