Molly Harris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Harris wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kami Hyatt, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Madison Lytken was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Trinity, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.
Like Etna, Trinity also got a great game from a two-way player: Jessica Brown. She struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Brown has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Hallee Prather led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bailey Bunce, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Etna will take on rival Mt. Shasta at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Trinity is set to face off against their familiar foe Fall River at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
