The Morgan Eagles had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 40-20 margin over Kopperl. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Morgan has posted since November 30, 2023.
Leading Morgan to victory were Elizabeth Gonzalez and Bianca Aviles. Gonzalez scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Aviles scored 16 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Gonzalez pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Briseyda Romo, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Morgan's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Kopperl, they bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan will challenge Meridian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kopperl will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
