The Lakeview Sailors will challenge the Cambridge Springs Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lakeview knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Cambridge Springs likes a good challenge.
Cambridge Springs' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Lakeview hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Everything went the Sailors' way against Rocky Grove on Monday as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The Sailors haven't had any issues with the Orioles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Lucas Fagley's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cody Fagley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. Tanner Vincent also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Lakeview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cambridge Springs' offense. They came up short against Saegertown on Tuesday, falling 15-0. The loss continues a trend for the Devils in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Lakeview's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Cambridge Springs, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Cambridge Springs' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lakeview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. It's a different story for Cambridge Springs, though, as they've only averaged .138. Will they be able to contain Lakeview's hitters?
Lakeview took their victory against Cambridge Springs in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sailors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
