It was a good run, but The Jacksonville Christian Academy Thunder unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 56-48 to Tuscaloosa Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (46), Jacksonville Christian Academy still had to take the loss.
Jacksonville Christian Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Travis Barnhill, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Jesse Gannaway was another key contributor, picking up 262 receiving yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Luke Jones, who rushed for 365 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 18.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Jones really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Harris, who gained 217 total yards.
Jacksonville Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Tuscaloosa Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Jacksonville Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tuscaloosa Christian is on the road again on Friday and play against Russell Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Russell Christian Academy is ranked 12th in Mississippi, while Tuscaloosa Christian is ranked 13th in Alabama).
