Football Recap: Richwood Takes a Loss

Richwood scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They were dealt a 73-38 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Bison. That's two games in a row now that the Lumberjacks have lost by exactly 35 points.

Corey Minter and Fawkes Odell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Minter rushed for 67 yards and a pair of scores, while Odell rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Odell was even better on defense, picking up two sacks and making six total tackles.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Odell, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Even if they lost, Richwood's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. In that department, Odell was the leader with two.

Richwood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Buffalo, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richwood will venture away from home to square off against Montcalm at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lumberjacks are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Buffalo, they will head out to take on Meadow Bridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bison will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
