Basketball Recap: Jose Nieblas Key Part of a Team Effort in Blue Devils Win

There's no place like home for Sunnyside, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 60-53 victory over the Nogales Apaches on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Blue Devils also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Sunnyside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jose Nieblas led the charge by going 7 for 11 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Nieblas is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Julio Martinez was another key player, putting up ten points.

Despite the loss, Nogales still got an impressive performance from Antonio Rodriguez, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Legleu, who posted eight points.

Sunnyside's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Nogales, they dropped their record down to 4-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Sunnyside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-62 loss against Mountain Ridge on the 5th. As for Nogales, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-37 victory against Monument Valley on the 5th.
