Scranton Prep added to the longest winning streak in Lackawanna 1 this week by beating Valley View, 54-13. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Cavaliers.
The Cougars moved up to 324 from 360 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Valley View was able to move up by falling to Scranton Prep 54-13.
J.C. Show threw for 194 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 14-23 with 1 interception.
Jake McCarthy was a force in the backfield as Scranton topped Delaware Valley.
McCarthy provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Knights defeated the Warriors. McCarthy's favorite target this week was Joshua Gonzalez, who caught 4 passes for 80 yards.
Nathan Hollander was the best wideout in the league this week as Abington Heights topped West Scranton. Hollander tallied 6 receptions for 116 yards. Jake Henzes helped Abington Heights' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 13 yards.
The Comets' Show and Hollander have formed a dream team this season, leading Lackawanna 1 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Show has thrown for 1,160 yards this season, while Hollander has 38 catches for 600 yards. Scranton's McCarthy leads the league in rushing yards with 1,544.
Wallenpaupack Area's Jovaughn Marshall is a mere 20 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 157 carries Marshall has accumulated 980 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Delaware Valley takes on Nick Donato's team. Keith Olsommer's team is in fifth place, while the Cavaliers are in first place.
The Buckhorns were the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. Wallenpaupack Area defeated North Pocono 43-19 earlier in the week.
