The Monarch Knights will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Highlands Christian Knights at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Monarch lost a heartbreaker to Cooper City when they met back in January of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. Monarch fell 64-57 to Cooper City. Monarch has struggled against Cooper City recently, as their contest on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Monarch's defeat came about despite a quality game from Cody Dinnall, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Dinnall's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kensey Bewley , who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 101-51, which was the final score in Highlands Christian's tilt against NSU University last Saturday. While losing is never fun, Highlands Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 566th, while NSU University is ranked 40th).
Monarch bumped their record down to 3-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Highlands Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Monarch came up short against Highlands Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2020, falling 54-49. Can Monarch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
