Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Fairfield

Fairfield entered their tilt with Hamilton County on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Foxes get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Mules have won by exactly three runs.

Not much got past Ian Puckett, who gave up just three hits to keep Hamilton County off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tallen Hixenbaugh, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Fairfield pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Coming up, Fairfield will be playing at home against North Clay/Clay City on Monday. As for Hamilton County, they will head out to take on Zeigler-Royalton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tornadoes will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Foxes surely won't give up without a fight.
