The Edgewood Academy Wildcats waltzed into their game on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past Hooper Academy with points to spare, taking the game 54-38. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Edgewood Academy also won the last time the pair played on January 9th.
Edgewood Academy had a senior duo take command as Madison Martin dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds and Lindsey Brown scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexie Smith, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Edgewood Academy's win was their 23rd straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Hooper Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood Academy will square off against Autauga Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Autauga Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Edgewood Academy is ranked 53rd). As for Hooper Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Evangel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Evangel Christian Academy is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
