Corvian Community has gone 3-0 against Langtree Charter Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Corvian Community Cardinals challenge the Langtree Charter Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Corvian Community is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They took a blow against Cannon, falling 97-62.
Despite the loss, Corvian Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore RJ Moore went 11 for 21 on his way to 27 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 43.5% of Corvian Community's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxwell Garvin, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Corvian Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Langtree Charter Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Bradford Prep 65-59.
Corvian Community will need focus on slowing down Jerel Brawley, one of several Langtree Charter Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 of 13 on his way to 23 points and seven boards. Brawley's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Gelpke, who made all 6 shots he took to post 12 points and six assists.
Corvian Community's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Langtree Charter Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Corvian Community has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29 boards per game. However, it's not like Langtree Charter Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
