Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Danville's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Danville never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Milton on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Black Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Ironmen, who have now won ten matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Cole Duffy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Duffy was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Danville let Matthew Acor and Garrett Hoffman run wild. Acor got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, while Hoffman went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Diehl, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Danville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milton only posted an OBP of .429.

Danville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Milton, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Looking ahead, Danville will head out on the road to square off against North Schuylkill at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Ironmen are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Milton, they will venture away from home to face off against Warrior Run at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Defenders will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Black Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
