The Van Alstyne Panthers entered their tilt with the Gainesville Leopards with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Van Alstyne was the clear victor by a 38-14 margin over Gainesville. Considering Van Alstyne has won three matchups by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brady Carson had an outrageously good game as he picked up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. Carson's longest reception was for an incredible 87 yards. Another player making a difference was Weston Johnston, who threw for 248 yards and a touchdown on only 17 passes.
Despite the loss, Gainesville still got an impressive performance from Ladanian White, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Van Alstyne's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.3 points per game. As for Gainesville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Van Alstyne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gainesville will be playing in front of their home fans against Krum at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Krum is ranked 682nd, while Gainesville is ranked 684th).
