Basketball Game Preview: Chopticon Braves vs. Potomac Wolverines

The Chopticon Braves will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Potomac Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Chopticon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.

Chopticon is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against King's Christian Academy by a score of 73-61 on Friday.

Chopticon relied on the efforts of Bryson Fenwick, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards, and Brian McMahon, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave Fenwick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Carter, who posted 11 points.

Chopticon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King's Christian Academy only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Meanwhile, Potomac was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oxon Hill. The Wolverines were up 26-11 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Chopticon's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Potomac, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Chopticon took their win against Potomac when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 79-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chopticon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
