The Garden Valley Wolverines will face off against the Idaho City Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Garden Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Horseshoe Bend on Saturday. The Wolverines blew past the Mustangs 14-1. Winning may never get old, but the Wolverines sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Liliana LaFleur and Marina Simpson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, LaFleur tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Simpson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At bat, LaFleur got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs, while Simpson went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those five stolen bases gave LaFleur a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabriella Gillette, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Good, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Garden Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Idaho City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-10 margin over the Mustangs.
Garden Valley's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Idaho City, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Garden Valley suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Idaho City when the teams last played back in April. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
