Basketball Recap: Morgan Township Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Morgan Township Cherokees were beaten by the Victory Christian Academy Lions 71-39.

When it comes to explaining why Morgan Township lost, don't look at Aidan Johnson. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 15 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points.

Victory Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Whitaker, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Whitaker's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Jordan, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

Morgan Township's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Victory Christian Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

Morgan Township didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-49 defeat against Bethany Christian on the 6th. As for Victory Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-36 win against Calumet New Tech on the 3rd.
