Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Warriors a 6-0 shutout. The Pacers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Hannah McAllister and Bronwynn Leighty made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, McAllister kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Leighty tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McAllister has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, McAllister went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Leighty got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave Leighty a new career-high.
Hayes hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westerville North struck out ten times.
Hayes pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Worthington Kilbourne, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Both Worthington Kilbourne and Hayes just can't seem to miss. The Wolves have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Hayes struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
