The Karns City Gremlins missed an extra point against the Brookville Raiders on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Karns City and Brookville were almost perfectly matched up, but Karns City suffered an agonizing 42-41 loss. Despite 214 more yards than Brookville, Karns City couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Karns City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Cramer, who rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 87 yards and a touchdown on only four passes. Cramer has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Hunter Scherer also helped out as he racked up 156 rushing yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brookville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlie Krug, who threw for 283 yards and five touchdowns. Jack Pete also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Karns City's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Brookville, they, and Punxsutawney. As for Brookville, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Karns City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brookville will head out on the road to face off against Central Clarion [Clarion/Clarion-Limestone/North Clarion] at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Central Clarion [Clarion/Clarion-Limestone/North Clarion]'s favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
