Westminster Christian is 8-1 against Florida Christian since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Westminster Christian Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Florida Christian Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Westminster Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Westminster Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) and fell 3-2.
Kaley Dyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Gigi Khoury was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Florida Christian waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Stallions. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Serena Gillen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Gillen wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Otano, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Westminster Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Florida Christian, their record is now 4-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westminster Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westminster Christian skirted past Florida Christian 5-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Westminster Christian repeat their success, or does Florida Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
